Spring Term 1 at Niton Preschool – Frost, Flour and Festive Fun — Embracing Change This Term!

Jayne Hill • January 25, 2026

Learning led by children, shaped by curiosity, and rooted in community

Spring term 1: Monday 6th January – Friday 13th February 2026
Opening Hours are 7.45 am - 5.30pm

A very warm welcome back to preschool!

Generally, preschools have always been run on a monthly ‘theme’ , but we have decided to move away from this as children’s interests don’t always fit!!

We could plan a whole term on dinosaurs but only 5 children may show any interest.

So, we have decided to move away from themes and more into ‘concepts’.

Below I have listed a few concepts which enable us to be more flexible in our daily curriculum.

Belonging in the community, Cause and effect, Friendships, Problem solving, Growth and Change.

Please ensure your child has everything they need for the day;

  • a healthy snack for the morning,
  • a change of clothes,
  • nappies & cream (if used)
  • indoor shoes or slippers now that the weather is colder,
  • and a healthy packed lunch.

We ask that all belongings are clearly labelled.

If your child needs a school dinner the price is £3.60

We have a water machine and milk for the children to drink, so please NO drinks bottles.

(exception for younger children that are not yet able to use a cup)

This is for health and hygiene reasons.

If you have any concerns please speak to Jayne.

This term we will be walking around the village so please send your child in with appropriate clothing.

Warm Coats and wellie boots (we do have spares if needed)

A warm extra jumper would be very useful, we are encouraging children to wear our waterproof onesies outside but as they are thin a warm extra jumper for underneath would be great the keep the children warm.

Dates For Your Diary

Monday 23rd February

If there are any further dates, we will email them to you.

The current legislation is that children and staff should remain at home for 48 hours after the last bout of diarrhoea or vomiting.

Many Thanks.

NO TOYS AT PRE-SCHOOL!

Please DO NOT allow your child to bring toys to preschool.
They get lost, broken and can cause a choking hazard if not age appropriate.

Thank you for your co-operation.

As we will be doing LOTS of craft activities this term please ensure children are NOT dressed in their best clothes. As much a we try to encourage children to wear aprons sometimes paint on clothing cannot be helped.
